Nees, John Charles - An obituary published in the Shelbyville Democrat on October 30, 1924 for John Charles Neese, stated that he had died at his home in the Riverview addition to Shelbyville, Friday [October 24, 1924]. Mr. Neese was born in Cumberland, Illinois, November 8, 1869, and was a son of John and Marcella Neese. He was married in Shelbyville, March 11, 1898. He was survived by his wife, three daughters and three brothers. The daughters were Mrs. Rachel Kellar, Mrs. Gladys Stout and Miss Myrtle Neese, all of Shelbyville. The brothers were Oscar, Winfield and Jake Neese, also of Shelbyville. Funeral services were held from the Church of Christ in Shelbyville, Rev. A. L. Gepford officiating. Interment was in Glenwood Cemetery. [Note: Name is Neese in the obituary and in the death record, but is Nees on the tombstone and in the burial record. Also the death date on the tombstone differs from that in the obituary and in the death record.]
