Edna A. McConnell, 96, Loretto, died July 10, 2020 at home on her 75th wedding anniversary, surrounded by her loving family.

Born March 20, 1924 in Loretto, daughter of the late Lewis and Zita (Bradley) Ansman.

Preceded in death by husband, Paul on January 26, 1976, daughter in law, Patricia (Harris) McConnell, son in law, Ray Hoover, great granddaughter, Kayla Jones, brothers; Gerald and Clair, and sisters; Mary Bush and Catherine Feathers.

Survived by children; Paul Jr., Russell (Catherine), Carol Hoover, Lucille (Rick) Harber, Dorothy (Norm) Jacobs, Phyllis (Ray) Sheehan, Marie (Denny) George, Dave, and twins, Kevin (Barbara), and Kathy (Mike) O’Neill, 37 grandchildren, 57great grandchildren, with 2 to be born soon, and 2 great great grandchildren to be born soon, sisters; Madeline Mraz, Hilda Pullen, and Alma Mead, and sister in law, Mary (Boyle) Ansman. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Edna worked in food service at St. Francis College for 17 years. She enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, gardening, bowling where she belonged to a league in Ebensburg and board games. She was a member of the Legion of Mary and visited the sick and shut in and a member of the Basilica of St. Michael the Archangel, Loretto, where funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 PM Tuesday, Very Rev. John D. Byrnes, Celebrant. Committal, St. Michael Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2 until 8 PM Monday at the Gibbons Funeral Home, 1688 Liberty St., Ashville, PA 16613, where a Vigil Service will be held Monday. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Legion of Mary at the Basilica of St. Michael the Archangel, Loretto, in Edna’s memory. www.gibbonsfhashvillecoalport.com
