Melvin Ballard Allred, age 59, of Willard, died Saturday, Nov. 24, at the Brigham City Community hospital of a heart ailment.

He was born Dec. 22, 1930, in Baltimore, MD, a son of Melvin B. and Nancy Parker Allred.

He married Diana May Seber on Sept. 24, 1961, in Brigham City. They were later divorced.

He was a member of the LDS church and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors.

He had been employed at the Wilson Meat packing company in Ogden, and had been a cement finisher for Parsons construction. He later owned and operated Mel's Lounge in Brigham City.

Surviving are his former wife, Diana May Cook of Wendover, Nev.; and his children: J. Kim Allred, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Kirk (Cheri) Mund, Willard; Shane Allred, Salt Lake City; Nana L. Brownson, Brigham City; Angela Murray; Tim Allred, Salt Lake City; Melvin Allred, Vernal; Cindy McMurtrey, Idaho Falls, Idaho; Justin Campbell, Roy; and many grandchildren.

Also surviving is his mother, Mrs. Nancy Pollard of Clearfield.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 28, at 11a.m. in the Olsen-Myers mortuary, Brigham City. Friends may call Wednesday from 9:30 until 10:45 a.m.

Interment will be in the Willard cemetery.
