Nettleton – Lelia Alma Berryman Cox, 90, died April 12, 2009, at her home. She was born July 2, 1918, in Itawamba County to John W. and Annie Virdell Smith Berryman. She married Julius Cox on March 22, 1938; he preceded her in death on April 30, 1959. She lived in Columbus and in the Nettleton area for 50 years. She was employed by Wilson Manufacturing for a number of years. She also cooked fish for the Country Squire. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. She enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren, and was known for her pinto beans and cornbread.

Services were April 15 at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory with burial in the Liberty Cemetery in Itawamba County.

Survivors included her son, John W. "Bill" Cox (Cissy) of Blue Mountain; five daughters, JoNell Cox of Nettleton, Peggy Minor (Lloyd) of Amory, Judy Nanney (Ricky) of Nettleton, Sue Clark (Thomas) of Shannon and Jean Cox Bogan of Tupelo; 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one brother, Jack W Berryman; and two sisters, Alta Attaway and Gladys Hester.
