Dorothy "Dot" Agnew McKibben, 92, widow of Charles Galloway McKibben, died on Thursday, December 8, 2011, at the Founders Plaza Nursing Home in Wylie, TX.

Interment in Marks Cemetery.

Mrs. McKibben was born on September 15, 1919 in Bethany, MS. A 1941 graduate of Blue Mountain College in Blue Mountain, MS, she married Charles Galloway McKibben on June 1, 1947. She was a resident of Marks and a member of Marks United Methodist Church for fifty-eight years. Mrs. McKibben was a well-known and highly respected high school mathematics teacher. She began her teaching career in Tupelo, MS, in 1941 and subsequently taught at Jonestown, Marks High School, Quitman County High School, and Delta Academy in Marks. After retiring in 1988, she continued to serve as a substitute teacher for fifteen years, the last ten years associated with Lee Academy in Clarksdale, MS. In total, Mrs. McKibben spent sixty-two years in Mississippi classrooms, touching numerous lives, including the children and, in some instances, the grandchildren of a number of her students.

Mrs. McKibben leaves behind a host of friends in Marks and the surrounding area. She is survived by her sister, Mary Agnew Hall of Louisville, KY; her two sons, Charles McKibben and wife, Jo, of Louisville, KY and Calvin McKibben and wife, Martha, of Rowlett, TX. She is also survived by four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Barmore and Mary Bess Agnew; and her two brothers, Forrest S. Agnew and Larkin B. Agnew.
