She was born December 16, 1921, in Nelson County, a daughter of the late William Clifton and Eliza Coffey Truslow.
Mrs. Allen was a member of the Fellowship Pentecostal Church at Greenfield. She was a good Christian and loved doing for others. She also loved her animals.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, A. J. "Johnie" Allen; and a number of brothers and sisters. She was the last member of her immediate family.
Survivors include her children, Janice Mawyer and her husband, Kenneth, of Waynesboro, Wayne C. Allen Sr. and his wife, Linda, of Nellysford, Jane E. Scott and her husband, Ronnie, of Waynesboro and L.C. Allen and his friend, Katy, of Afton; 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
A service will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, April 9, 2009, at the Fellowship Pentecostal Church by the Reverend Edmund Southers with burial following at the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Chip Wilson, David Mawyer, Steven Mawyer, Wayne C. Allen Jr., Mike Stull, Chuck Wilson and Guy Wilson.
The family will receive friends from 7 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, 2009, at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.
