Charles was the youngest of the six surviving children of Sigismund and Rosetta, and was born in London in 1884 - the date on the headstone is incorrect.

He was educated at Westminster Jews Free school, and in 1901 was living in Kilburn with his widowed mother, brother Adolph, sister Leah and aunt Elizabeth Levy.

Charles was a gifted musician and went to Leipzig to study at the Conservatoire. He died of 'brain fever' (meningitis) at the young age of 20.

With thanks to Charles' last surviving niece (Adolph's daughter) for passing on what she knew, and to 'Lutetia' for recording the grave.
