She was born Aug. 28, 1920, to Earl and Mabel (Dickey) Ramsey in Le Bam, Wash. Elaine was raised in Firdale Valley, near Menlo, Wash., and graduated from Valley High School in Menlo in 1938.
She was introduced to her husband, Carroll Dick, on a blind date arranged by Delos and Agnes Wilma. They married Jan. 14, 1942, in Kelso. He preceded her in death in 1994.
Elaine was a homemaker and enjoyed her family, being a mother and a grandmother. Her grandchildren started calling her "G.G.," the name stuck, and then everyone called her "G.G." She was a serving person who enjoyed helping others. G.G. loved flowers and walking. She was a longtime member, over 60 years, of the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, a Camp Fire Girls leader, active in PTA and the chapter commanding officer of the Philanthropic Educational Organization (PEO) Sisterhood. She also volunteered at Toutle River Ranch.
Elaine is survived by four daughters, Carolyn (Dean) Tucker of Seattle, JoAnne (Ken) Powell of Ocean Park, Barbara (Rick) Shaw of Kelso, and Paula (Don) Moore of Kalama; a brother, Gary Ramsey of Dewey, Ariz.; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations may be made to the Community Home Health & Hospice, P.O. Box 2067, Longview, WA 98632 or the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 402 Crawford Street, Kelso, WA 98626.
A graveside service is planned for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Cowlitz View Memorial Gardens, 1535 Mount Brynion Road in Kelso. A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday at the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.
