Howard DeWeese Henderson, known as "Deep" to his many friends, an oil and gas consultant, of Houston, Texas, died Friday, July 9, 1993. Mr. Henderson was born June 7, 1907 in Eminence, Missouri to William Nathan and Fidelia Frances DeWeese Henderson. He married Marie Tackett Henderson on August 19, 1930. He was a graduate of Draughton's Business College, 1926, and Harvard University, 1951.

Mr. Henderson was associated with Sands Petroleum Company, 1926, White Eagle Oil & Refining Co., 1926-27, Skelly Oil Co., 1927-30, Continental Oil Co., 1930-46; with Sohio Petroleum Co., 1946-56, coordinated foreign exploration 1955-56; with Truckline Gas Co., 1956-72, Senior Vice President, 1971-72; President Panhandle Eastern Exploration Co., 1971-72; Senior Vice President Panhandle Eastern Pipe Line Company, 1971-72; Oil and Gas Consultant, 1972-75. Mr. Henderson was a member of the Houston Landmen's Association (Past President), Texas Interstate Oil Compact Commission, 25 Year Club Petroleum Industry, Lakeside Country Club (Past President), Houston Club, Petroleum Club, Harvard Business School Club, and the Harris County Grand Jury Association.

Mr. Henderson was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Margaret Henderson; and is survived by his wife, Marie Henderson; daughter, Elizabeth Babcock of Denton, Texas; grandson, Mark Richard Babcock of New York City; granddaughter, Suzanne Christian Babcock of San Francisco, Ca; niece, Mrs. Harold R. Belknap of Norman, Oklahoma; great nephew, Dr. Harold R. Belknap of Norman, Oklahoma; great niece, Mrs. Dudley C. Sharp, Jr. of Houston, Tx; nephews, David Tackett of Key West, Florida, and Bill Tackett and wife, Sara of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Friends may call at Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive, after 12 noon Monday, where the funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm Tuesday, July 13, 1993 in the Chapel with The Rev. Patrick Murphy officiating. Interment will follow in Oklahoma.

Pallbearers will be Dudley Sharp, Jr., Dr. Harold Belknap, David Tackett, and William Tackett. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Texas Heart Institute, 1101 Bates, Houston, Texas 77030 or to the charity of choice. (George H. Lewis & Sons, Houston, TX)
