FAIRFIELD — Jesse F Fleming, 33 North Park avenue, died at 9:40 p m. July 3 in Jefferson County hospital, at the age of 83. He had been seriously ill for a week.
Fleming was one of the best known contractors and builders in Fairfield. He was said to have built more houses in the Fairfield community than any other man in recent years.
A native of Indiana, Fleming was born Oct. 3, 1872. the son of Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Fleming. The family moved to the Stockport community when hee was a boy, and he was reared in that community. On Dec. 23. 1896 he was married to Mary Elizabeth Workman. They moved to Fairfield in 1911. Mrs. Fleming died Sept 17, 1950.
Surviving are a son and three daughters: Eugene Fleming, Gowanda, NY.: Mrs. Bernard Glotfelty, Des Moines; Mrs. Beryl Reck, Burlington, and Mrs. Irene Lundberg, of Fairfield.
Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Delbert Morris, of Burlington; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will he held Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the Weston Bohner Funeral home. The Rev. Donald Eagle, new pastor of the First Christian church, will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.
