Stanley Stanek, 90, Rt. 1, Hillsboro died on Tuesday, January 24, 1989 at St. Joseph's Memorial Hospital, Hillsboro, Wisconsin.

Stanek was born January 5, 1899 in the town of Union, Vernon County to Matt and Mary (Dufeck) Stanek. Stanek grew to adulthood in the Town of Union and had attended Wopat School. On May 10, 1922 Stanek was united in marriage to Mary Kouba in Hillsboro, Wisconsin.

Stanley and Mary have lived in Hillsboro all their lives. Stanek had worked as a carpenter, painter and a milk hauler. Stanek was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Dilly.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; one son George (Geraldine) Stanek of Hillsboro; four daughters Angela (Jim) Marshall, LaFarge, Mildred Steckel, Waunakee, Mary Ellen (James) Bahan, Reno, Nevada and Monica Nevins of Reedsburg; twenty-eight grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren; on brother, Robert Stanek, Madison and one sister, Helen Prielipp of Elroy.

Stanek was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Clarence and James; three grandchildren; two brothers Jim and Joseph; and four sisters, Anna Sebranek, Betty Pesik, Agnes Stanek and Emma Chute.

Visitations will be held at Picha's Funeral Home in Hillsboro on Thursday, January 26, 1989 from 4 to 9 p.m. with a Bible Vigil at 8 p.m. Friends and relatives may also call on Friday from 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 27, 1989 at 11 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church, Dilly, Wisconsin. Officiating clergyman will be Father James Ennis. Place of burial will be St. John's Catholic Cemetery at Dilly.
