She was born on June 22, 1908 in the Township of Union, Vernon County, Wisconsin to Joseph and Mary (Sebranek) Kouba. She grew to adulthood in the Town of Union and attended the Champion Valley School. She was united in marriage on May 10, 1922 to Stanley Stanek in Hillsboro. He preceded her in death on January 24, 1989.
They lived at Dilly all their married lives. They were the honorary king and queen of the Hillsboro Cesky Den in 1987. She moved to Hillsboro in October of 1990. She was a member of the St. John's Catholic Church at Dilly until moving to Hillsboro and then became a member of the St. Aloysius Catholic Church. She was a member of the St. Ann's Altar Society of both parishes.
She is survived by four daughters, Angela (Jim) Marshall of LaFarge, Mildred Steckel of Waunakee, Mary Ellen (James) Bahan of Reno, Nevada, and Monica Nevins of Reedsburg; a son, George (Geraldine) Stanek of Hillsboro; thirty grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and a sister, Julia Havlik, of Hillsboro.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Clarence and James; three grandchildren; two sisters, Martha Stanek and Anna Pesik; and three brothers, John, Martin and James.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 11, 1991 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church at Dilly, with Father James Ennis officiating. Burial is in the St. John's Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the Picha Funeral Home on Thursday from 4 to 9 p.m., with a Rosary Service by St. Ann's Altar Society of Dilly and Hillsboro at 4:15 p.m., and a Bible Vigil at 8:00 p.m.
