Frontier peace officer. Tom Hueston was a deputy United States marshal in Oklahoma territory. On September 2, 1893, a posse of marshals engaged in a fierce gunfight at Ingalls with the Doolin-Dalton gang of outlaws. Hueston, together with fellow marshals Richard 'Dick' Speed and Lafayette 'Lafe' Shadley, was killed in the line of duty during the fight. Deputy Marshal Hueston is memorialized on the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial (Panel 32, #W-14) in Washington, DC.
