En el 2003, su programa matutino "Su Alegre Despertar" rompió el récord mundial y se convirtió en el programa radial de más larga duración en la historia de la radio, al cumplir 53 años al aire y convirtiendo a Agrelot en el segundo puertorriqueño, después de Wilfredo Benítez, en entrar al Libro de Récords de Guinness. SERAFIN SIN fin, Pancho Matanza, Cerebrito Ligón, Pasión, Speedy González, Mario Trauma, Juan Macana, Don Cholito y su querido Torito... todos eran uno en la figura de su creador. Tenía 76 años y dejó un legado incalculable de alegría.

Agrelot worked on a show named El Colegio de la Alegria (The School of Happiness). Soon after, he moved with his Torito character to rival radio station WKAQ, where he starred alongside Luis Vigoreaux in a show named Torito & Company.
Although he took time to recieve a bachelor degree in Arts from the University of Puerto Rico, Agrelot continued his career while the radio program achieved a huge success. He became the first Puertorican actor to tour his radio show throughout Latin communities in the United States.
Agrelot and Torito made the transition to TV in 1954 when The School of Happiness first aired on WKAQ - TV Channel 2.
In 1964, WAPA-TV channel 4 aired the very first midday variety show called "El Show Del Mediodía" (The Midday Show). Amongst the sponsors for the show, the now defunct Corona beer created a segment with the premise to have a man from the country "jíbaro" to deliver the local and national news with a comedic twist. Here enters Agrelot and creates a character he never played before. The segment was "Encabulla y vuelve y tira" (Roll it and throw it again); the character was "Don Cholito". This marked a turning point in Agrelot's career, becoming the most popular comedian after Mario Moreno "Cantinflas". The segment ran for over 30 years and "Don Cholito" became his official nickname.
However, Agrelot created many characters like Speedy González the electrician, Pasión the maid, The Puertorican Godfather, Serafín Sin Fín the Designer, and Rodríguez and Rodríguez the Aristrocat. Because of his comedic versatility, Agrelot was named by his peers as "The Man of A Thousand Faces".
His fame took Agrelot to tour many countries including Spain, Mexico, Argentina, Dominican Republic and Venezuela.
Apart from interventions in a few commercials, Agrelot's credits in Puerto Rican TV include El Colegio de la Alegria (The School of Happiness), Professor Colgate, La Criada Malcriada (The Nasty Maid), El Especial de Corona (The Corona Special), Desafiando a los Genios (Challenging The Geniuses), Haciendo Historia (Making History), Parece Increible (Seems Incredible), Ja ja, Ji ji, Jo jo con Agrelot, and other programs.
The administration of Parque De Las Ciencias (The Science Theme Park) and the municipal office of Bayamón honored Agrelot in 1998 with an area known as "La Ciudad de Torito" (Torito's City).
