Harvey D. McGray

ARLINGTON, June 11-Harvey D. McGray, 79, of 40 Hutchinson road, a retired contractor who built more than 300 homes in West Somerville and the surrounding area, died today.

Born on Cape Sable Island, Nova Scotia, he lived here 22 years.

He was affiliated with many lodges, including Charity Lodge, A. F. & A. M., Cambridge Royal Arch Chapter, the Cambridge Council, Eleppo Temple, Caleb Rand Lodge, I. O. O. F., and the Boston Consistory.

He leaves a wife, Bessie (Vidito); a son, H. Doane of Rutherford, N. J., and two daughters, Mrs. John P. Roberts of West Medford and Mrs. Markus E. Smith of Denver.

Services will be Tuesday, June 14, at 2 p. m. at the A. E. Long Memorial Chapel, 4 Beech st., Cambridge.

Harvey D. McGray, 79, died at his home, 40 Hutchinson road, on Saturday, June 11, after a six months illness. He had been a resident of Arlington for 22 years, and was a well-known retired builder and contractor. Mr. McGray was prominent in Masonic affairs, being a member of Charity Lodge, A.F.&A.M. He was also a member of the Cambridge Royal Arch Chapter, Cambridge Council, Massachusetts Consistory, and the Caleb Rand Lodge of Odd Fellows in Somerville.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, June 14, at 2:00 p.m. from the A. E. Long Memorial Chapel in Cambridge. Rev. David Fraser officiated and interment was in Mr. Auburn Cemetery.

Mr. McGray is survived by his widow, Bessie Vidito McGray; a son, H. Doane McGray of Rutherford, N. J.; two daughters, Mrs. John P. Roberts of West Medford, and Mrs. Markus E. Smith of Denver, Colo.
