James D. Shadoin, 90, Dies Early Today
James D. Shadoin, 90, aged resident of Corvallis, who came here in 1926, passed away at the home of Shadoin, 202 North Sixth street early Monday morning. Mr. Shadoin had been in failing health for several years but had maintained all of his faculties in spite of his advanced years.
The son of Reuben and Sarah Angeline Bishop Shadoin he was born in Somerset, Kentucky, December 13, 1849. He grew up and received his education there. He was married to Miss Helen M. Watson at Somerset, January 18, 1872. Four years later the young couple moved to Grand Lodge, Michigan, where Mr. Shadoin engaged in building contracting. In 1906 they clone west to Livingston, Montana, and had also resided in Salt Lake City before locating in Payette, Idaho, in 1920. Mrs. Shadoin passed away there January 21, 1922, just three days after the couple had celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.
On January 1, 1926, Mr. Shadoin came to Corvallis with his son and family and has since made his home here. He was a member of the Christian church at Payette, and of the I.O.O.F. lodge of that city having been affiliated with that fraternity for more than 50 years.
Besides his son he is survived by two granddaughters, Mrs. Phyllis Whippo, Salem, Mrs. Stella Smiley, Corvallis; a grandson, James H. Shadoin, Newport, and two great-grandchildren.
The remains are at the Keeney funeral home and funeral service will be held in the chapel, Wednesday, at 2 o'clock. Dr. John S. Burns, pastor of the Federated Churches officiate. The remains will be forwarded to Payette, Thursday evening where committal services will be held Friday afternoon with ritualistic services being conducted by the Payette I.O.O.F. lodge. Interment will be in the family plot in the Payette cemetery.
