Born anywhere from 1879 to 1882, George came to America from the area around Grodno, Lithuania (now Hrodna, Belarus) sometime in either 1894 or 1895. He married Mary in 1901 and they had twelve known children (see her memorial for a full list.) George worked in the coalmines for much of his life. He had a brother Michael and sisters Mary and Eva who lived in the area. Another known brother, Martin, lived in the New York City region.

GEORGE YANOVITCH

George (Ivonovitch) Yanovltch, 120 Penn Street, Kingston, died yesterday afternoon at his home after a short Illness. He was born in Lithuania and settled on the West Side 57 years ago.

He was a charter member and organizer of St. Mary's Lithuanian RC Church. Kingston; Lithuanian RC Alliance of America, Branch 1 Kingston, of which he was a past president; and UMWA. He was last employed at Woodward Colliery, Glen Alden Coal Company in 1946.

Surviving are these children: George, Nanticoke; Mrs.- William Pacropis, Sr., Lyndwood; Mrs. George Brooks Charlotte. N. C: Mrs. Julia Root, Luzerne: Vincent, Exeter; Mrs. Charles Mackaravich, Miami: Edward, Mrs. Joseph. Moquin,-Hartford, Conn.; Mrs. Edward Mackaravich, at home; brothers, Michael, Edwardsville; Martin, Brooklyn; 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral will be held Wednesday at 8:30 from the funeral home, 232 Zerbey Avenue. Kingston, with requiem mass at 9 in St. Mary's Church. Interment in parish cemetery, Pringle. Friends may call after 5 p. today.
