Willis Blakey died Last Friday
Mr. Willis Blakey died Friday, June 28, at his home in the Hayes Chapel community. He had been in ill health for sometime, suffering from a series of strokes. He lacked only two days of reaching his 85th birthday, which would have been Monday, July 1st. He and Emily Ann Collins were married in 1890 and to this union seven children were born.

Mrs. Blakey preceded him in death, but all of the children survives, as follows: Lawrence Blakey, of Jamestown, Mrs. Zacha Collins of Ann Arbor, Mich., Mrs. B. H. Bradshaw and Miss Mary Blakey of Montpelier, Chester Blakey, Sidney Blakey, and Roscoe Blakey of Russell Springs. Also survived are 34 grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren, a sister and two brothers.

Mr. Blakey professed faith in Christ at an early age at Mt. Zion church. He was an outstanding citizen and a good man, loved and respected by all who knew him. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, June 30, at Hayes Chapel Church, conducted by Rev. Elza Morgan, assisted by Rev. Clarence Beltram. His granddaughters acted as flower girls and his grandsons were pallbearers. Burial was in the church cemetery, with Rippetoe Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements.

About his daughter Amanda: Amanda Collins, Sept 21, 1893 to May 9, 1970, married Zach Collins who died Oct 14, 1978. Zach was the son of Abraham Collins and Martha Jane Bradshaw. They died in Ann Arbor, Michigan and probably buried there. Their son Raymond is buried in Bethlehem Cemetery there. Their son Avery married Kate Bennett of Adair County. He died in Saline, Michigan in 1978. Their daughter, Flora Collins, died in 1918 and she's buried in Grant Cemetery in Crocus area of Adair County. Their daughter Valmerine Beloat died in 2003 in Ann Arbor. Her husband Carl Bertrand Beloat and she married in Adair County in 1938, but he's buried beside Pauline Cundiff in the Columbia Church Cemetery in Gibson County, IN. I don't know where Valmerine is buried. She died under the name Thompson and died in Ann Arbor.
