Verlie Ellen "Granny" Talley Nichols, 89, of Bowling Green died at the Medical Center.

The Macon County, Tennessee native was a housewife and a member of Rocky Springs Baptist Church.

She was a daughter of the late James Alexander Talley and Viola Ellen Knight Talley and the wife of the late Willie Smith Nichols.

Survivors include two sons, J.W. Nichols and Elmer Nichols, both of Bowling Green; two daughters, Viola Williams of Park City and Pearl Carter of Bowling Green; four sisters, Carrie Conner of Marlboro, MD., Lucille Speck, Mary Frances and Sophie Carter, all of Bowling Green; 18 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, five great step grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
