Otto was born to Edward Apple and Miranda Jane Barton. When he was just a baby, his parents moved to Iroquois County, Illinois. When he was just 4 years old, his mother died of tuberculosis. He was sent to Indiana to live with his grandparents, Daniel and Elizabeth Apple. After their death in 1907, he moved on. After a brief visit with his brother Harry, he continued his journey and eventually settled in Oklahoma. While there, he enlisted in the 62nd Regiment of the Coastal Artillery Corp during World War I. His company was stationed in France. After the war he returned to Logan County, Oklahoma . On November 12, 1925 he married Orene Bishop. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Sumner County Kansas. Their daughter was born there September of 1926. Otto died there. His cause of death is unknown.
