OKLAHOMA CITY — March 15, 1914 — Jan. 9, 2012

Lucille Vestal, 97, of Oklahoma City, formally longtime resident of Duncan, passed away at her home Monday morning, Jan. 9, 2012, after a lengthy struggle with failing health.

Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012, at Council Road Baptist Church Chapel, 2900 N. Council Road in Bethany, with the Rev. Jim Cary officiating, after a brief lunch at the church. Interment will be at 2:30 p.m., at the Duncan Cemetery, with the Rev. Randy Southerland officiating. Arrangement are under direction of Carter-Smart Funeral Home.

Lucille was born March 15, 1914, in Wingate, Texas, to Robert and Emma (Baggett) Rayburn. After moving with her family to Altus, and eventually Duncan, she married Johnie P. Vestal on June 3, 1933, in Duncan. They were married 61 years before he preceded her in death in 1995, at the age of 84.

Lucille is survived by her daughter Norma V. Judkins, of Oklahoma City; her son Bob Vestal, of Austin, Texas; her brother Grady Rayburn, of Duncan; sister Lorene Burton, of Duncan; daughter-in-law Sherry Vestal, of Red Oak, Texas; grandchildren Teresa Jones, of Tulsa, Scott Vestal, of Glennville, Tenn., Curtis Vestal, of Bluff Dale, Texas, Andy Vestal, of Wylie, Texas, and Lisa Garcia, of Kissimmee, Fla.; five great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, as well as numerous nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son Johnie Wayne Vestal, who died in 1999; her brothers Julian, Jack, R.C. and William; and her sisters Ivor Ray, Willie Davis and Aileen Crafton.

Pallbearers will be Curtis Vestal, Andy Vestal, Mike Rayburn, Larry Anderson, Josh Barker and Larry Zwiebel.
