Agnes grew up in Jermyn, Lackawanna County, PA, and graduated from Jermyn HS in 1906 and Carbondale HS in 1908. She graduated from Bloomsburg State Teachers College in 1910, and was a school teacher in Jermyn and later at the Wilkes-Barre Business College, run by her husband. After the family moved to NJ, during World War II she worked in the book department at Strawbridge & Clother in Philadelphia, and later for the Army Air Force Storage Depot for photographic supplies.
She was involved in Planned Parenthood, and helped establish a birth control center in Camden County, NJ.
