ROSSVILLE, GA - Charles "Chuck" Gary Abernathy, 75, passed away Friday, January 13, 2012.
He was born in Fyffe, Ala., to the late James Donald "J.D." Abernathy and Marjorie Poole Abernathy. He has resided in Rossville since 1964.
He was an employee of Combustion Engineering/ABB/Alstom for 50 years where he worked as a boiler maker.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mrs. Sandra D. Stansifer Abernathy; son and daughter-in-law, Charles "Gary" Abernathy Jr. and Laurel; granddaughter, Brooklyn Abernathy, all of Rossville; sisters and brother-in-law, Donna Clark, of Lawrenceville, Ga., Patricia and Edward Matthews, of Acworth, Ga.; brother and sister-in-law, Terry and Sue Abernathy, of Fyffe, Ala.; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4 until 9 p.m. today and Sunday morning until the service.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 15, 2012 graveside at Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park, Rossville.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
