On April 26, 1910, the census taker of Ward 6 in Terrebonne Parish, La. called on Claiste, 35, and Lisca, 34. They were married for 16 years and had 7 children but 2 of them died. Caliste worked as a fisherman. He could speak English but the others spoke French. Children were Agnes, 13; Badglois, a son of 11; Allen, 9; Eunice, 7; Maurice, 1 6/12. Also living there was Claiste mother, Elmira, a widow of 55. She, too, spoke only French. Also Caliste brother Wilson, age 21 and single, working as a fisherman and he could speak English. They were family # 256 living on Bayou Terrebonne next door to Caliste's sister, Lisa and her family.
