Mr. Bass was a native of Clinton, NC and graduated from Clinton High School in 1972. He attended Chowan College and served four years in the Navy as an operations specialist aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Saratoga, based in Mayport, Fla.
He was a well-known bartender in Florida for many years, and he was dedicated to animal rescue. As an organ donor, his lasting gifts will benefit as many as 200 people.
A wake and memorial service was held Wednesday, March 17, in Boca Raton, Florida. Following cremation, according to his wishes, his ashes will be spread in his beloved waters of south Florida.
