El Dorado, Kan. —
Gary D. Doty, 69, of El Dorado, died Jan. 12, 2012 at his home. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Walnut Valley Memorial Park Cemetery.
Gary was born July 14, 1942 in Great Bend, the son of Ernest and Valeta (Barton) Doty. He attended schools in Great Bend and graduated from Wichita State University. He had retired from Hawker Beechcraft where he had worked in the sheet metal department. On Oct. 26, 1962 he was united in marriage to Florine A. Thomas. She preceded him in death on May 14, 2010. He loved to collect and restore antique autos.
Surviving family include: one daughter, Michelle Tyler of Pasco, Wash.; sons, Gary Doty, Jr. of Rose Hill and Michael Doty of El Dorado; stepmother, Dorothy Doty; half sisters, Janet Coats and Wanda Heine; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Cheyenne Doty.
Kirby-Morris Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
