Mr. Bangen served on the Big Bend Township Board for 24 years. He was on the Board of Directors of the Farmers Union Oil Company and the Farmers Union Elevator board.
Mr. Bangen was one of the first homesteaders to change from horse power to tractors in the community and became one of the larger farm operators.
They raised a family of seven children: Harriet (Mrs. M. J. Larson) of Brush Prairie, WA; Howard of New Town; Ruth (Mrs. Arnold Wollan) of Denver, CO; Arvid of New Town; Reuben of San Jose, CA; Thelma (Mrs. Michael Collins) of Vancouver, WA; and Leland of Denver, CO. Howard Bangen 1979
