GILMER — Services for Clyde Carlton Shelton, 88, of Ore City, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 17, 2012, at Cowboy Church in Upshur County, with the Rev. Holland Atchley officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Mr. Shelton passed away Thursday January, 12, 2012, in Ore City, Texas.
He was born May 29, 1923, in Upshur County, to A.L. Shelton and Venie Fleet Shelton. Mr. Shelton married Cynthia Ann Monts on August 29, 1949, in Gilmer, and he served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Mr. Shelton was a general foreman for Lone Star Steel before his retirement.
He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Ann Shelton of Ore City; daughter, Glenda Williams of Ore City; brothers, Milburn Shelton of Gilmer and J.R. Shelton of Longview; sisters, Juanita Keyworth of Longview, Rita Brice of Longview and Violet Beaty of Longview; grandchildren, Anthony Ashley, Desiree Ashley, great-grandchildren Robert Ashley, Steven Ashley, Jessica Buchler and Elizabeth Chance; and great-great-grandchildren, Mason Ashley, Madison Ashley and Michelle Chance.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, one half brother and two sisters.
Pallbearers will be Tim Denison, Murry Jordon, Mike Jordon, Terry Jordon, Rick Leppert, Bo Bullock, Loyd Russell and Johnny Monts.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today, January, 16, 2012, at the funeral home.
