Clifton J. 'Cliff' Torrance Jr.
PLATTSBURGH — Clifton J. "Cliff" Torrance Jr., 62, of Irish Settlement Road in Plattsburgh, passed away Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012, at his home with his family by his side.
He was born in Plattsburgh, Sept. 20, 1949, the son of Clifton and Addie (Desautels) Torrance Sr.
Clifton graduated from OLVA High School in 1968 and received a BA in chemistry from SUNY Albany in 1971. He was married to Joan Ann Rabideau in 1975 and settled in Plattsburgh. Clifton worked at Plattsburgh Lanes as the night manager for several years and later was employed by the state Department of Corrections as a corrections officer for 28 years starting in 1978.
He enjoyed weight lifting, bowling and also achieved a third degree brown belt in Uechi-Ryu Karate. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Joan (Rabideau) Torrance; his children, Jason , Eric and Jennifer; his parents, Clifton and Addie Torrance Sr.; his sisters, Linda, Stella and Theresa "Terry"; two grandchildren, Kasey Lynn and Connor; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m Wednesday at Our Lady of Victory Church.
Interment will be in St. Peter's Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be offered to the family.
