"MRS. HANIKA DEAD
Passes Away After Weeks of illness
Stroke of Apoplexy Cuts Short a Life Full of Good Deeds-Death of a Noble Woman.

Last night at nine o'clock, Mrs. Sarah A. Hanika, wife of Christian Hanika, died at the family residence, 314 East Eighth street. Mrs. Hanika had about passed through the dangerous period of a ten weeks' siege of typhoid fever, when she was stricken with apoplexy, and since that time little hope of her recovery had been held out by the family. The deceased was formerly Miss Sarah A. Hecker and was born at Greenville, Pennsylvania, September 23, 1846, and moved with her parents to Millersburg, Ohio, where she met and married Mr. Hanika thirty years ago. After their marriage they lived for several years at Wichita, Kansas, and took up their abode in Muncie in 1889. During her whole life Mrs. Hanika was a member of the Lutheran church and in her death the congregation loses a good christian member and the announcement that she has passed to the great beyond will cause sincere sorrow among the members. She was also a member of the Rathbone Sisters and held the office of outer guard. Six children, all residents of Muncie, survive the mother. They are Mrs. Laura Paul, Frank A., Harry S., Chauncey, Charles E., and Thomas Hanika. The parents Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Hecker together with William Hecker, Mrs. Lizzie Adams, and Mrs. Helen Dahl, all living in Ohio are the members of her family, who are left to mourn her. During her last illness the members of Welcome Lodge, K. of P., of Watch the husband is Chancellor Commander, have been very solicitous and there was a general expression of regret when the announcement was received."
