OBITUARY
Mary Malinda Houchin, daughter, of Jesse and Elizabeth Houchin, was born in Vermillion county, Indiana, Sept. 24, 1850, and died August 10, 1915, at her house in Montezuma, Ind. Early in life she joined the Baptist church and ever after expressed her faith in her Lord and Redeemer.
On October 2, 1868, she was married to Silas Davis, who proceeded her in death. There were born to them thirteen children: Phineas S., Maude B., and Wm H. who died in childhood. Those who are left to mourn her loss are: Mrs. Nona Richardson, Mrs. Glen G. Whitesell and Mrs. Mary L Durham of Rockville, Ind.; Mrs. Lizzie Sims, Mrs. Hattie Dugger and Frank Davis, of Clinton; Mrs. Jessie Gosnell, of Alberta, Canada; Mrs. Pearl Rein, of Benton Harbor, Mich.; and Roy and Robert Davis, of Montezuma; (siblings) Lawrence B. Houchin (, John S. Houchin) and Mrs. Alice Thorne, of Dana, Ind.
She has thirty grandchildren and six great grandchildren with many other relatives and friends to mourn the loss of this dear mother.
The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Dye of St. Bernice. Interment at Pisgah cemetery, Vermillion county, Indiana.

She married Silas Davis, Jr October 2, 1868 in Newport/Vermillion County, Indiana. He was the son of Silas and Caroline Hart Mitchell Davis. He was born November 25, 1848 in Clinton/Vermillion County, Indiana and died March 10, 1906 in Battle Creek Sanitarium; Little Rock, Arkansas, and is buried in Minturn/Lawrence County Arkansas. They were the parents of Elizabeth Caroline "Lizzie", Harriet Grace "Hattie", Phineas S. "Finnie", Jessie Verenus, Alice Minona "Minnie or Nona", Maude Berle, Pearl Myrtle, William Ray, Roy Denver, Glenn, John Frank, Robert, and Myra (Mary) I. Davis.
