Norman E Cummings, 94, a lifelong resident of Mayo, died January 13 at The Country Home in Harwwod. Born on March 20,1917 in Mayo, Norman was a graduate of Annapolis High School, who served in the U.S. Army during World War II, After the war, Norman worked as a cabinet maker at Trumpy's Boatyard and later worked with the Anne Arundel Co. Board of Education in their maintenance division until he retied in 1982. After retiring, Norman became a commercial waterman. He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Edgewater and was a charter member of both the American Legion Post 226 in Mayo and the Kiwanis Club Commodore Mayo. He loved crabbing, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Gertrude Cummings, who he married on February 1,1944; a son, Robert Cummings of Mayo; a daughter, Nancy Glascoe of Friendship; a brother Lester Cummings of Mayo; a sister, Glascoe Fritsche of Baltimore; a grandson, Bryan Glascoe of Friendship; a granddaughter Stacey Hawkins of Friendship; and a great-granddaughter Alyssa Hawkins of Friendship. His brother Lester, passed away on January 2, 2016
