James T. Burke, 88, of Sunnycrest Avenue, North Smithfield, a former employee of the Kendall Co., died Feb. 25 at Landmark Medical Center. He was the husband of Muriel (Leclerc) Burke. Born in Woonsocket, a son of the late James J. and Bridget M. (Kerrigan) Burke, he was a lifelong resident of Slatersville. He had worked in management at Kendall in Walpole, Mass., for many years before he retired in 1981. He was a past treasurer of the North Smithfield Democratic Committee, serving for 28 years, and a member of the North Smithfield School Committee from 1961 to 1967. He was an Army veteran of World War II, and received the Bronze Star. He was a member of LeClair-Gotlik-Logan-Bassett VFW Post 6342, Forestdale, and the 37th Division Veterans Association. He had managed the Red Raiders football team for many years. He was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church. Besides his wife, he leaves a sister, Margaret L'Heureux of Williamsburg, Va., and several nieces and nephews.
