Donald Aloise Anderson was born Jan. 14, 1926, to Elmer and Mathilda (Huetig) Anderson in Laurel. He attended rural schools and high school in Cedar County. Stationed in Hawaii, Donald served in the U.S. Army from March 1945 to October 1946.

On Feb. 18, 1947, he married Dorothy Bayne in Coleridge. They farmed in the Coleridge area and moved to a farm northwest of Madison in 1952.

Donald was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Battle Creek and the American Legion in Madison. He took great pride in his heritage, his country, the land and his family. He looked forward to any holiday and reunion that provided reason for family gatherings and his annual fishing trip with his "boys."

He is survived by his wife Dorothy; a son Rodney and his wife Jeanette of Creighton; a daughter Sharilyn Lemke and her husband Gary of Osmond; and a daughter-in-law Connie Anderson, wife of the late Eldon Anderson of Newman Grove; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a sister Myrna Collins and her husband Richard of Coleridge.
