Shepherd David Hawthorne, of Dailey, Michigan, first married Angie M. Sawyer, of Wheeler, Indiana, January 24, 1873, at the residence of witnesses Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Bradley, in Furness, Indiana, with W. W. Jones presiding; three children were born to the union, as follows:


1. Glen Bradley Hawthorne, b. 1875, d. 1929

2. Eva May "Matie" Hawthorne, b. 1878, d. 1907

3. Wilbur Everett Hawthorne, b. 1882, d. 1955


Angie M. (Sawyer) Hawthorne died October 12, 1921, in Bay City, Michigan.


Shepherd then married Bertha Zoe "Birdie" Opper, a sister of his younger brother W. E.'s wife, Emma Emelia (Opper) Hawthorne. No children were born to their union.
