Bonnie J. Adams, 72, of Cokain Road, Harrisville, died at 12:04 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012 at Sharon Regional Health System after a battle since 2008 with systemic amyloidosis. Born Dec. 24, 1939, in Mercer, she was the daughter of Edward B. Deniker and Kathryn E. (Wiand) Deniker.

She graduated in 1957 from Grove City High School and in 1961 from Grove City College, Grove City. She retired in 1997 from Har-Mer Elementary School in Harrisville where she had been the head teacher and also taught fourth grade. She also taught for two years in the Grove City Area School District. She taught for a total of 36 years. Prior to teaching she was employed at J.C. Penney Co. in Grove City. As of January 2006 she also worked part time at the YMCA in Grove City. She was of the protestant faith.

Mrs. Adams was a member of PSEAR, former president of PSEA, a member of the National Rifle Association, a former Irwin Township auditor and was also a founding member of the Grove City Area Historical Society. She and her husband were formerly involved in dealing with antiques and rental properties. Her hobbies included being an avid volleyball player, and an avid hunter. She loved horses, enjoyed painting and also enjoyed traveling. She was married June 20, 1961, in Grove City, to Glenn C. Adams, and he preceded her in death Sept. 15, 2011.

Mrs. Adams is survived by three sons, Mike S. Adams of Grove City; Bret G. Adams and his fiance, Kathy Locktosh, of Grove City and Kirk R. Adams and his wife, Amy of Harrisville; five grandchildren, Sutton, Quinn, Silas, Estella and Mary Adams; and two step-grandchildren, Tyler and Ryan Locktosh. She is also survived by three sisters Linda J. Brautigam and her husband, David K., of Grove City, Ella Beth Deitle and her husband, R. Bruce, of New Mexico and Sally L. McFeely and her husband, Steven P. of Harrisville; a brother, James E. Deniker and his wife, Mary Ellen, of Sandy Lake; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Jamison Funeral Home, 117 N. Main St., Harrisville. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Geoffrey M. Wild of the Church of Epiphany Episcopal Church, Grove City, officiating. Burial will be in Crestview Memorial Park, Grove City.
