He was a lifelong resident of the North Georgia area and was a member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church. He was also an Army veteran and retired from Babb Lumber Company in 1995 after more than 30 years of service. He was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia Deakins Dillard; father, Jesse Dillard and one sister, Inez Dillard.
Survivors include his mother, Aileen Summers Dillard of Rocky Face; three sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas and Angela Dillard Jr. and the Rev. Sam and Shirley Dillard, all of Chatsworth, and Michael Dillard of Rock Spring; six brothers, Jim Dillard of California; John, Alton and Donald Dillard, all of Dalton; Robert Dillard of Rocky Face; and Michael C. Dillard of Tunnel Hill; four sisters, Louise Dillard of Rocky Face, Betty Stanley and Minnie Hooker, both of Dalton; and Joyce Webb of Varnell; nine grandchildren, Mandy, Tiffany, Joseph, Johnny, Brooke and Thomas Dillard III, Ashley Nicole Dillard, Jessica Dillard and Leah Dillard Jones; one great-grandson, Logan Jones; several nieces and nephews.
Services are Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Wallis-Stewart Chapel with the Rev. Tony Hyatt officiating.
Burial will be in the Anderson Memorial Gardens.
The family will began receiving friends today after 5 p.m. and prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
