Myrle F. Appleby Sr., age 84 of Chippewa Lake, passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at Mecosta County Medical Center in Big Rapids. Myrle was born on August 24, 1927 in Grand Rapids to Adelbert and Hazel (Bonham) Appleby. On June 20, 1953 Myrle married Norma J. Earle in Barryton and they made their home in Chippewa Lake where they raised their children.

Myrle was a butcher at MacKersie Brothers in Barryton for many years. He also worked on the railroad and did road construction. Myrle was honorably discharged from the United States Army. He enjoyed playing cards and loved to watch westerns.

He is survived by seven children; Myrle Frank Jr. Appleby, Donald E. Appleby, Adelbert Appleby all of Chippewa Lake, Kay Appleby of Greenville, Kathy (Percy) Ward, Scott Appleby and Jeff Appleby all of Chippewa Lake; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren with one on the way; two sisters, Joyce and Donna and many nieces and nephews.

Myrle was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Norma in 2005, one brother Lyle and three sisters May, Ruth and Marie.

Funeral services will take place 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 23, 2012 at the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton. Interment will take place in the spring at Flake Cemetery in Barryton.

The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
