Mr. Christophel was born June 23, 1940, in Calhoun County, to Frederick and Doris (Blakeman) Christophel.
He married Grace Bradley June 20, 1964.
He served his country in the U.S. Army.
He was a computer programmer and data processor who worked for several years at Calhoun Foundry, retiring due to ill health.
He also had worked at Albion Industries and Starr Commonwealth.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the N.R.A., North American Hunt Club, Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever and was vice president of Save Homer Lake Foundation.
Mr. Christophel also enjoyed farming and sports, especially bowling.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, two sons, ; five step-grandchildren; and 10 step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Frederick W. Christophel, and a grandchild.
A graveside service was at Cook's Prairie Cemetery.
