Pamela Jean Collier Melampy, 50, died on Monday, January 16, 2012, at the University of Virginia Medical Center.
She was born on December 24, 1961, in Charlottesville, the daughter of Daniel Louis Collier Jr. and Marie Lucille Shifflett Collier.
Pamela was a graduate of Charlottesville High School and a member of First Baptist Church. She served as the Probate Clerk for the Albemarle Circuit Court.
Pamela was preceded in death by her nephew, David R. Shipp Jr.; as well as her maternal grandparents, Cecil and Mazie Shifflett; and her paternal grandparents, Daniel and Josephine Collier.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Benny Melampy; son, Steven Vance Gibson Jr. and his fiance, Tiffany Summers of Barboursville; daughter, Danielle Marie Gibson of Charlottesville; step-daughter, Brooke Elyse Melampy; sister, Debra M. Shipp and her husband, David "Randy"; niece, Jennifer Renee Shipp; nephew, Issiah Shipp; her dear friends and cousins, Cecilia and Thomas Courtney, many other cousins; and her beloved pets, Matilda, Gretchen and Zoey.
A memorial service was held Saturday, January 21, 2012, at First Baptist Church, 735 Park Street, Charlottesville.
