Robert J. Hunt


Robert J. "Bill" Hunt, 89, Brazil, died at 6:15 a.m. Tuesday, December 23, at Cloverleaf Healthcare of Knightsville.


Born in Brazil on Jan. 8, 1914, his parents were John Hunt and Hazel Moore Hunt. After graduating from Staunton High School in 1932, he moved to Indianapolis, and for much of his 53 years there he was a real estate salesman. In 1985, he returned to Brazil and married the former Virgie Pell McDonald on April 20, 1985.


A veteran of Army service during World War II, he was a member of V.F.W. Post No. 1127, Brazil, and the Ebenezer Church.


Preceding him in death were a former wife, Dorothy Hunt; one brother, Melvin Hunt; and a brother-in-law, William Smith. Surviving are his wife, Virgie Hunt; two sons, Jim Hunt, Mooresville and Gary Hunt, Nashville, IN; one step-son and wife, Jim and Eddi Place, New Palestine; one brother and wife, Stanley R. and Mary Hunt, Brazil; two sisters, Mary (Mrs. Earl) Kumpf, Toledo, Ohio, Ruby Smith and her special friend, Robert Stephens, Indianapolis; a sister-in-law, Hildreth Hunt, Indianapolis; six grandchildren, one great-grandson, several nieces and nephews.


Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Miller Memorial Chapel. Rev. Ernest Rush will officiate, and entombment will be in Washington Park East, Indianapolis. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday with a military veterans honorary visit at 6:30 p.m.


The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Clay County Food Pantry, or to the charity of the donor's choice in lieu of floral offerings.
