Solomon Lantz was the fourth of thirteen children of Samuel Lantz and Magdalena Plank. He moved from Mifflin County, PA to Illinois in 1850. About 1853, he married Malinda Yoder. Eleven children were born to the couple, nine of whom survived their father.
