Loy Elbert Dettman, 80, of Stella, NE, passed away January 15, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Center at Auburn, NE. He was born February 12, 1931 in rural Humboldt, NE to the late Oscar Clifford and Nora F. (White) Dettman.

On April 12, 1959 he married Marjorie Fisher at Falls City, NE.

Loy was raised in Richardson County Nebraska and graduated from Stella High School in 1948. He was an avid coyote hunter following graduation and started custom farming. When the couple married they made their home northwest of Stella on the family farm. He continued to farm on his own in the Stella area until he entered the nursing home in December of 2011. They milked and raised Brown Swiss cows for over 20 years. He then started raising beef cattle and spent many hours hauling livestock for friends and neighbors to market. He also did custom combining and baling over the years; he enjoyed helping at the Humboldt Sale Barn. In later years he enjoyed having coffee daily in downtown Stella.

Loy is survived by his wife, Marjorie of Stella, daughters, Judy Ivey and her husband Bob of Falls City, Kristy Fischer of Stella, brothers, Dale and his wife Naomi of Auburn, Wayne of Bern, KS, Weldon and his wife Sharon of Humboldt, sisters, Mildred Buethe of Plattsmouth, NE, Norma Kay Schutte of Lincoln, NE, Doris Jean Shafer and her husband Wayne of Stella, Eldona Workman of Plattsmouth, Marlys Devries and her husband Scott of Lake City, IA, brother-in-law, Charles Shrader of Weeping Water, NE, grandchildren, Lindsay Holscher and her husband Trent of Ogallala, NE, Lacey Fischer of Stella and Brooks Ivey of Falls City. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Colene Shrader and a brother in infancy.

The body of Mr. Dettman has been cremated and no services will be held.
