Edward Bergman
Last rites for the late Edward Bergman were held in the Central Church of Christ, Boone, Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 26, at 2:30 o'clock, following a prayer service in the family home, 2127 Carroll street. The services were in charge of the Rev. G. Harvey Sutton, the pastor. Mrs. Frank Bostwick san "Lead Kindly Light," "In the Garden" and All the Way my Saviour Leads Me," Mrs. Bessie Jones playing the accompaniments. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Cole were in charge of the flowers. Internment was made in Linwood Park cemetery, east. The pallbearers were Emil Berglund, Oscar Swanson, David Swanson, Henry Peterson, Albin Anderson and Charley Carlson all of the Stratford community.
Edward Bergman, son of Andrew and Helen Bergman, was born in Sweden, April 27, 1874, and died in his home in Boone, Dec. 22, 1939, having reached the age of 65 years, 7 months, 25 days.
He came to America with his parents, two brothers and two sisters, in 1892 and the family located in Denison. Some years later he came to this community and in 1899 was united in marriage with Augusta Samuelson, who preceded him in death in 1930 after the family had moved from Stratford to make their home in Boone.
Nine children were born of this union, one of whom, a daughter, died in infancy. surviving are six daughters and two sons, as follows: Carl Bergman, of Stratford; Mrs. Milton Nelson and Mrs. Carl Johnson, of Dayton; Mrs. Elsie Morrison, Iva and Rudy Bergman, of Ames; Mrs. Helen Knight and Grace Bergman, of Boone. Two brothers and sisters: Mrs. Carl Almstedt, Bruce and Fred, all of Boone, and Elvera Bergman, of Jersey City, N.J., also survive. There are fourteen grandchildren.
The friends of the family in this community extend sincere sympathy to the bereaved children.
