BALAGOT, Mandi Dawn, It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Mandi Dawn Balagot, 18, of Bonavista Drive, Hilden, on Sunday, July 19. 2009. Born in Toronto on November 21, 1990 she was the daughter of Miguel Balagot of Nevada, and Alan and Kathleen Legere of Hilden, and was a graduate of South Colchester High School. Mandi completed the first year of her Bachelor of Science, Nursing Degree at the University of New Brunswick, Saint John campus, and had recently been accepted at St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish to continue with her program to pursue her dream of becoming a pediatrician. Mandi was fully bilingual, achieving honours every year in high school, and she received awards for her participation in volunteer organizations such as Water for Life. She was an accomplished athlete, particularly in basketball. Mandi was a happy girl with a personality everyone would have wanted. She was a popular student who loved school, family, friends and life. Besides her parents, she is survived by her brother Ryan, sisters Joleen and Brooklyn. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 23rd from 2-4 & 7-9 pm in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro. Funeral Mass will be on Friday, July 24th at 10:00 am in Immaculate Conception Church, 669 Prince Street, Truro with Father Joseph Thomas officiating. Interment in Hilden Cemetery.
