Joseph P."Joe" Serra, Capaldo, Kansas, died at 10 p.m. on Sunday, November 26, 1989 of an apparent heart attack. He was born on February 18, 1927, in Capaldo, to Luigi and Concetta "Merenda" Serra. He lived in Capaldo all his life and he graduated from St.Mary's High School, and was a veteran of WWII. Joe was part of the Military Police in Africa. He had been a delivery man for Bottenfield's Beauty Supply of Pittsburg, Kansas for 23 years.He had also worked for Downtown Cadillac-Oldsmobile as a mechanic, but left because of the fumes from the cars. Uncle Joe was a member of the St.Alice Catholic Church of Capaldo and the Pittsburg, Kansas American Legion Post No. 64. Uncle Joe was one of 9 siblings and 8 survived. My Grandma Tracy was very fond of him and so was I. He had a great sense of humor, and a kind disposition.
