Helen Louise (Smith) Abernathy, 100, Anderson, passed away Jan. 17, 2012, at her home.

She was born April 12, 1911, in Frankfort and resided in Anderson since 1943. She was a homemaker.

She and her husband wintered in Florida at Florida Camp Inn. She had been a member of Rolling Wheels Camping Good Sam Club and the Eagles Lodge.

Survivors include her children, Charles Snellenbarger (Marilyn) of Frankfort and Betty Ann Gray (Nick) of Anderson; stepchildren, Donald Abernathy of Seymour, Judy Reeves (Norman) of Illinois and Deanna Hardin (Kyle) of Greenwood; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry M. and Valerie (Kelly) Smith; husband, Paul Abernathy on April 24, 2000; daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn and Roy Hiday Jr.; son, Dan Snellenbarger; stepdaughter, Janet (Abernathy) Gambel; siblings, Robert H. Smith, Mary Amos and Betty Zipperian; grandchildren, Debbie Hiday and Kathy Phillips; and step-grandchildren, Wesley Hardin and Caroline Abernathy.

Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 W. 53rd St., Anderson. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Anderson.
