Julian Nathaniel Brooks, 91, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, January 18, 2012. Funeral services will be at 2:00PM on Sunday, January 22, 2012 at Avondale Baptist Church with the Reverend Marty Watson officiating. Burial will follow in Avondale Baptist Church cemetery.

Mr. Brooks was born in Gordon, Georgia and lived in Bibb County for more than 65 years. A veteran of World War II, Mr. Brooks was a pilot in the Army Air Corps and Air Force Reserves. He retired from the reserves as a Lt. Colonel. He graduated Suma Cum Laude from Mercer University with a Bachelor's Degree in Finance. Mr. Brooks was the owner-operator of J.N. Brooks Surplus in Bibb County. He was a member of Avondale Baptist Church where he was a Sunday School teacher, former Deacon, Chairman of the Board of Deacons, and Chairman of the Finance Committee. He organized and was President of the Wilkinson County Landowners Association. He was one of the founders of Windsor Academy. Mr. Brooks was predeceased by his first wife, Rilla Brooks and son, Gary Brooks.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Mary Henry Brooks; children, Steve Brooks (Nickie), Sandra Andrews, and Penny Reynolds (Julian "Butch"); grandchildren, Megan, Michael and Matthew Brooks, Christopher Andrews, Lindsay Andrews, Jennifer Andrews, Karen McVey, Julian "Jay" Reynolds (Melissa), and Nathaniel Reynolds (Angie); and eight great grandchildren.
