Robert Louis McInturff of Harrisonburg passed away Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012, at the age of 93. He was a resident at Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community and previously resided on Shank Drive in Harrisonburg.

Mr. McInturff was born Sept. 8, 1918, in Strasburg, and was a son of the late Daniel Monroe and Barbara Vernon Stickley McInturff.

He owned and operated Mac's upholstery and clock repair, where he was an upholsterer, carpet layer and clock repairer. He worked for J.S. Denton and Sons and Grand Home Furnishing for a number of years.

Mr. McInturff was a member of First Presbyterian Church Court Square, where he served as deacon and Sunday school treasurer. He was also past master of Rockingham Masonic Union Lodge No. 27 A.F.&A.M., a 32nd degree Mason and ACCA Temple. He served in the U.S. Naval Air Force in the South Pacific during World War II.

On April 12, 1941, he married the former Charlotte Lucille Lanham, who preceded him in death in 2004. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Martha Crystal McInturff, in 2005; four brothers, Joseph, Gilbert, Daniel and Edward; and two sisters, Beulah McInturff and Gladys McInturff. Surviving family includes numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 23, 2012, at Singers Glen Cemetery. Dr. John Sloop will preside and Masonic Rites will be performed by the Rockingham Union Masonic Lodge No. 27. Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 17 N. Court Square, Harrisonburg, VA 22801, or VMRC Good Samaritan Fund, 1491 Virginia Ave., Harrisonburg, VA 22802.

Services have been entrusted to Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.
