BERWICK, Maine — Constance Jane "Connie" Coffin, 74, of Hubbard Road, died on Friday, May 20, 2011, at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover. She was born in Rochester on July 1, 1936, the daughter of Arthur Rees and Albina (Dionne) Rees.

She grew up in Rollinsford, graduating from Spaulding High School. On Dec. 31, 1955, she married John Henry Coffin Sr. During John's 20 year career in the military, Connie was his companion at many duty stations around the country. During John's extended deployments, she would move back to Rollinsford awaiting his return. During these times, she worked as a stitcher in area shoe manufacturing shops, the last of which was South Berwick Shoe Company.

Connie was a devoted mother and grandmother. She handmade the most exquisite Halloween costumes for her grandchildren and, along with John, would attend all their school and sporting events, no matter how far from home. She even bought a pool so the grandchildren could spend more time with her and John. Connie was a talented cook and baker, and especially enjoyed preparing meals and treats during the Holiday season. Connie enjoyed camping at Mite Joe's and Westwood Shores with her family.

She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Rollinsford, where she was a member of St. Ann's Guild. She was also a supporter of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, where she volunteered during the penny sale. She was a loving and caring person, who would go out of her way to help anyone.

In addition to her mother and father, Connie was predeceased by her husband, John H. Coffin Sr., in April, 2011; her stepfather, Arthur Pettis; and her brother, Ronald Rees.

Survivors include her son, John H. Coffin Jr., and his wife, Patty, of Berwick; and her four granddaughters, Abbey, Carrie, Molly and Katie Coffin.

There are no calling hours. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, May 27, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, 411 Church St., Rollinsford, N.H. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Berwick.
